    mikeredshawnewsletterJane Wiley – won a gold medal in her AG at the ITU world long course championships finishing in 6:45:30.   Jane also competed the Lidl BananaMan Triathlon 2 weeks later finishing 1st lady & 2nd to Pro athlete Carol Bridge.

    Leo Contessi powered home in 9:28:07 at Ironman Austria, finishing a superb 13th in his AG and 65th overall. Next up Ironman Vichy.

    Nigel Turner took on Ironman UK 70.3 in hilly Exmoor, conditions were tough and Nigel stuck to it and set a course PB of 5:45:39, 38th in his AG. Next up Ironman Wales.

    Jim Prendergast has been busy racing the Castle Series again this month – First at the Cholmondeley Castle Olympic Triathlon coming home in a very solid 2:36:26, 25th overall and 2nd in his AG. Then at the Castle Howard Olympic Triathlon racing a very tough course in 2:42:32 finishing 25th Overall and 6th in his AG.
    lizscottnewsletter1Nicola Wignall at Dambuster qualified for the Chicago ITU AG World Standard Distance Championships, completing the double as she had already qualified for the Sprint distance event! Nicola then went on to win her AG at the Leeds Castle triathlon over Standard distance.

    Barney Gray, in what is proving to be a season full of misfortune including car write offs and accidents during racing, put in a solid 9th in his AG at the English Middle Distance Championships in a time of 4:34:31. In the Sussex Championships 50 mile TT event, 2:10:40 placed him 23rd in very difficult conditions. Barney is still hoping to compete well at IM 70.3 Germany despite a fall during the Farnham triathlon.

    James Davies posted a time of 42 minutes for the Sandwich 10k and is now preparing for the Bristol Half Marathon.

    Jude Hagger secured her place at the AG World Standard Distance Championships with a time of 2:33:27 at the Deva Triathlon. At Xscape Bedford Triathlon Jude came 3rd overall and won her age group with a time of 2:38:00. Unfortunately during her main event of the month, the ETU European Triathlon Championships in Geneva, Jude suffered a race ending puncture only a few km into the bike leg. Bad luck, but you do have Chicago in the bag!

    Darren Matthews raced strongly at the Votwo triathlon at Eton Dorney, recording a 2:14:00 as he prepares for the Vitruvian.

    Nigel Jones put in a good mid season performance at the Long Course Weekend in preparation for IM Wales. He completed the Iron distance swim in 1:30:00, the bike in 7:37:00 and the marathon in 3:05:00, which put Nigel 5th in AG for the marathon and a marathon pb. At the Porthcawl Triathlon Nigel finished in 2:49:00 posting another fine result.

    Phil Abbott clinched a superb 6th in his AG 2:31:00 at the Leeds Castle Triathlon.

    Adam Malin delighted coach Liz Scott by finishing his first IM at Switzerland in 30-34 degree heat – conditions that made many seasoned age group athletes DNF. Adam stuck to his race plan and finished within his goal time in 13:51 hours for 24th in his AG.

    Robert Longair gets a special mention, having put triathlon aside for the time being, completed a memorable week long adventure in the Pyrenees, taking in the Tour of course. The adventure included 5 days of 5 hours and more of cycling over 9 categorised climbs in hot temperatures rising on one climb to 43 degrees! Well done Robert, a wonderful achievement and a ride that will stay with you for a long time.

    andreawhitcombenewsletterSteve Tassell had the race of his life at the Marlow Half Iron Distance finishing in 5:14:24. This placed Steve in the top 15 in his AG and 66th overall.

    Lewys Winfield Young took part in the Bala Middle Distance Triathlon which was unfortunately abandoned during the bike leg due to a sad incident. Lewys had a strong swim to exit in 24th before moving up on the bike to close to the top 10. With the run being his strong leg a top 10 was certainly on the cards.

    Niven Robinson in only his 2nd Olympic Distance triathlon, posted a swift 2:23:39 for 26th in his AG at Zurich, quicker than his debut a few weeks ago.

    deanhughesnewsletterJo Gundle’s preparation for Austria and IM Wales is going well as she grabbed 7th female overall and 2nd Vet in the Marlow Middle Distance. Jo also gained confidence for the sea swim in Wales and completed the Bournemouth 3.8km swim in 1:24:31.

    Duncan Haynes recorded the fastest run split in his age group with an overall time of 5:28:00 at Wimbleball 70.3. He turned down a place at the worlds due to a busy schedule.  Keep up the good work Duncan for IM Mallorca in Sept.

    Alexandra Johnson’s recovery is going well and has just started running after her recent knee operation.

    John Borton’s World Championship preparation has been halted due to a collision with a car that didn’t see him on a roundabout and unfortunately couldn’t compete in the Worthing triathlon, a European qualifier. Best wishes and speedy recovery John.
